🔍 At M+S, every time we conduct forensic inspections on buildings in New York, thoroughness is our top priority. We delve into every detail, especially those elements that pose risks of falling, such as bricks and terracotta. Why is this so important in the Big Apple? Let us explain.

🏙️ New York is a city with a rich architectural history, where buildings are much more than mere structures. They are symbols of the grandeur and diversity of this unique metropolis. From towering skyscrapers to picturesque red-brick buildings, each structure tells a story and is part of the urban fabric that makes New York incomparable worldwide.

🧱 Bricks and terracotta are integral parts of New York’s architecture, but they are also vulnerable to the passage of time and the elements. With the frenetic pace of life in the city, the importance of maintaining these elements in optimal condition is more crucial than ever. During our inspections, we pay special attention to these intricate details that are susceptible to deterioration from freeze-thaw cycles and pollution.

🛠️ These vulnerabilities extend not only to the components themselves but also to the mortar and connections to backup systems. While these architectural features are undeniably beautiful, their complexity underscores the critical importance of understanding their initial construction and implementing proper repair, replacement, and restoration techniques, sometimes necessitating upgrades to meet current industry standards if the original construction was inadequate.

🔍 During the restoration process, we use Cathedral Stone’s M100 mortar for terracotta patch repairs, meeting the required standards of quality and aesthetics. We also provide at least 3 color samples for approval by owners, architects, and the LPC.

🔧 We also use stainless steel #405 terracotta anchors from Hohmann & Barnard to secure terracotta, ensuring its long-term stability and durability. All our materials and techniques comply with industry regulations and standards.

💪 Restoring the architectural elements of hashtagNewYork is vital for safety and preserving the city’s unique identity, honoring its history and legacy for future generations to appreciate and enjoy. Each inspection and restoration we undertake is a meaningful step towards perpetuating New York’s architectural legacy, ensuring its history and beauty endure for future generations.🌟
