🏙️ Ensuring Compliance and Safety on Poplar Street: FISP-Focused Restoration to Safeguard Value 🏢✨
14 AUGUST 2024
At Mayta + Sebastian Architecture, we recognize the importance of adhering to FISP (Façade Inspection & Safety Program) regulations, especially for properties where multiple buildings share the same lot. Our current project on Poplar Street in Brooklyn involves a complex portfolio of 8 buildings, each with unique structural requirements but grouped under the same Building Identification Number (BIN) by the Department of Buildings (DOB). This setup requires meticulous, coordinated inspections and repairs to address both safety and regulatory compliance.
🔍 Our team is diligently conducting assessments and interventions to comply with #FISP mandates, focusing on restoring facades, inspecting windows, doors, and structural components across all buildings on the lot to mitigate potential violations and enhance durability.
💡 Why FISP Compliance Matters: Managing multiple buildings under a single BIN presents unique challenges. For example, even buildings within the height limit for FISP often still require compliance due to shared classification histories, as seen with the Poplar properties, which have an established FISP designation. Such classifications can be difficult to reverse and can carry substantial penalties if not maintained.
Staying current with these requirements not only preserves the buildings’ value but also ensures the safety of residents and prevents costly fines down the line.
FISP compliance today means a safer and more valuable property tomorrow 🌆✨
