BUILDING ANALYTICS
Laser scanning and BIM translation
|
At Mayta Sebastian Architecture we use the latest technologies to bring our clients the best information possible to be used in analyzing and documenting their buildings or projects.
Our first tool of choice is Laser Scanning; We use state-of-the-art FARO Focus and FARO Freestyle LIDAR scanners capable of astonishing accuracy and detail. Every scan measures millions of discrete points and each point knows its precise XYZ position in space. Collectively, these points constitute a three dimensional "point cloud" that can be navigated, drafted, and modeled in popular CAD and BIM applications. Applied to architecture, a point cloud is nothing short of a dimensionally - correct, digital copy of the building itself. From the point clouds we then create BIM (Building Information Models) in Autodesk Revit or AutoCAD, depending on our clients needs. These models are subsequently used to document deficiencies in the case of forensics or restoration, and for existing conditions in projects to be renovated. These models, combined with the point clouds provide us with an exceptional analytical tool to review a buildings needs and a projects restrictions for proposed work. The point clouds allow us to do preliminary non- destructive analysis, and helps us pinpoint locations where further review via probes may be required. |
